2018-01-06local.conf.sample: Weakly set BB_DISKMON_DIRSkrogothRichard Purdie
For various reasons we need to be able to set and override this from auto.conf on our test infrastructure. We have tried forcing the variable but this then breaks other selftests. In the interests of not complicating things further and needing to modify the tests across releases, weaken the default assignment. Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
2016-04-09local.conf.sample: Make it possible to override EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURESPeter Kjellerstedt
It should be possible to override EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES in auto.conf, which is read before local.conf. Signed-off-by: Peter Kjellerstedt <peter.kjellerstedt@axis.com> Signed-off-by: Ross Burton <ross.burton@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>

2015-12-27conf/local.conf.sample: comment out ASSUME_PROVIDED=libsdl-nativeRoss Burton
Ubuntu 15.10 and Debian testing can't build qemu-native against the host libsdl. Now that libsdl-native is buildable, comment out the ASSUME_PROVIDED which meant it wouldn't be used. [ YOCTO #8553 ] Signed-off-by: Ross Burton <ross.burton@intel.com>
2015-11-16Revert "local.conf.sample: Disable image-prelink by default"Mark Hatle

2015-10-29local.conf.sample: Disable image-prelink by defaultMark Hatle
Due to problems with the prelinker itself, we need to disable the image-prelink by default. This will hopefully be re-enabled in the near future. Signed-off-by: Mark Hatle <mark.hatle@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
2015-07-20local.conf.sample: Added /tmp to BB_DISKMON_DIRSMariano Lopez

2014-07-23bitbake.conf: move BB_NUMBER_THREADS and PARALLEL_MAKE to bitbake.confRoxana Ciobanu
Currently, BB_NUMBER_THREADS and PARALLEL_MAKE default to unset and are set in local.conf. Now that we have the automatic probing, the default values can be set in bitbake.conf and an example of explicitly defining how many tasks to run can be moved to local.conf.sample.extended. 2014-01-27local.conf.sample: Add automatic defaults for BB_NUMBER_THREADS and ↵Richard Purdie
PARALLEL_MAKE Its rather sad that people don't appear to read local.conf and then complain about slow builds when they're just using a single thread. Most systems have more than one core now so we might as well use a more automatic default for these values. This may lead to better experiences for new users. [YOCTO #2528] Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
2013-12-16qemu/local.conf.sample: Add sdl PACKAGECONFIGRichard Purdie
Currently the SDL configuration option for qemu floats. This is confusing to new users and makes the build non-determinstic. This patch adds a PACKAGECONFIG option, defaulting to off and adds documentation to local.conf.sample leaving it on by default since this is the configuration our quick start assumes. 2013-09-06kernel.bbclass, image.bbclass: Implement kernel INITRAMFS dependency and ↵Jason Wessel
bundling This patch aims to fix the following two cases for the INITRAMFS generation. 1) Allow an image recipe to specify a paired INITRAMFS recipe such as core-image-minimal-initramfs. This allows building a base image which always generates the needed initramfs image in one step 2) Allow building a single binary which contains a kernel and the initramfs. A key requirement of the initramfs is to be able to add kernel modules. The current implementation of the INITRAMFS_IMAGE variable has a circular dependency when using kernel modules in the initramfs image.bb file that is caused by kernel.bbclass trying to build the initramfs before the kernel's do_install rule. The solution for this problem is to have the kernel's do_bundle_initramfs_image task depend on the do_rootfs from the INITRAMFS_IMAGE and not some intermediate point. The image.bbclass will also sets up dependencies to make the initramfs creation task run last. The code to bundle the kernel and initramfs together has been added. At a high level, all it is doing is invoking a second compilation of the kernel but changing the value of CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE to point to the generated initramfs from the image recipe. 2012-11-28local.conf.sample: Enable disk space monitoring by defaultRichard Purdie
Running out of space is a serious issue and can corrupt the build. Since we can prevent it at minimal overhead, we might as well enable it by default. Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
2012-10-15local.conf.sample: add PATH to SSTATE_MIRRORS commentsPaul Eggleton
The shared state cache as pointed to by SSTATE_DIR by default now has two-character subdirectories to prevent there being an issue with too many files in the same directory; also, native sstate packages will go into a subdirectory named using the distro ID string. If you copy the newly structured sstate cache to a mirror location (either local or remote) and then point to it in SSTATE_MIRRORS, you need to append "PATH" to the end of the mirror URL so that the path used by bitbake before the mirror substitution is appended to the path used to access the mirror. 2012-09-14local.conf.sample: change valgrind support architecture commentJack Mitchell

2011-08-12local.conf.sample: Cleanup and improveRichard Purdie
local.conf is the first thing anyone new to the project sees. Over time it has built up a ton cruft and isn't even accurate in places. This patch: * Moves things to local.conf.sample.extended if a new user is unlikely to need to immediately care about the options * Reorders the file to be more intuitive to a new user * Moves certain default values to default-distrovars.inc in cases where most users wouldn't want to change the value * Adds large blocks of text to explain what an option does. There have been too many cases of a user not realising what some of these settings do and how they can use them to their advantage (like DL_DIR for example). 2011-07-27multilib: Add support for compiling recipes against multiple ABIsRichard Purdie
This patch adds the core multilib class which can be used along with a parameter specifying the mutlilib to use in BBCLASSEXTEND. 2011-05-04qemuimagetest: Enable toolchain automation tests in qemuimagetestJiajun Xu
Enable toolchain automation tests in qemuimagetest framework. 3 C/C++ test projects are added to test toolchain - cvs, iptables and sudoku-savant. User needs to set TEST_SCEN to "toolchain" in local.conf to enable tests. Test case will check if toolchain tarball exists under "${DEPLOY_DIR}/sdk". And it will extract toolchain tarball into /opt. It requires user to chown /opt to non-root user, who will run qemuimagetest. Signed-off-by Jiajun Xu <jiajun.xu@intel.com>

2011-03-01Revise stripping and splitting of debug informationMark Hatle
We now support two styles of debug information generation, the '.debug' style, which is the same as previously implemented. This style simply splits the debug information and makes it available in the same general directory. /bin/foo -> /bin/.debug/foo The new 'debug-file-directory' style splits the debug information and places it into the single debug-file-directory, /usr/lib/debug: /bin/foo -> /usr/lib/debug/bin/foo.debug Both also find and copy all referenced source code to a new /usr/src/debug directory. This allows the -dbg files to be used for stand-a-lone debugging on or off the target device. File stripping is now handled as a seperate operation from file splitting. This allows us to split the debug information, but also leave it in the original file -- or prevent the debug information from being split. Also enhance the comments within local.conf.sample to provide a better understanding of the control the user has over debug file generation. Signed-off-by: Mark Hatle <mark.hatle@windriver.com>
